There are basically two types of pediatric practice in Anchorage. Most pediatricians here work in large group practices, with several pediatricians working together in one office. This arrangement has certain advantages, such as extended office hours. Dr. Briggs, on the other hand, is a "solo" pediatrician, meaning he is the only medical provider at his clinic.
Many families prefer to have one doctor for their children—someone they can reach seven days a week, 24 hours a day in case of an emergency. For these families, a solo pediatrician may be the preferred option. Dr. Briggs generally can be reached 24 hours a day for emergencies. If he is out of town--usually about 3 weeks each year--another pediatrician will take his calls.
